Football Completes Game Plan for Arkansas

BATON ROUGE -- LSU put the finishing touches on its on-field preparations for fifth-ranked Arkansas on Wednesday with a two-hour workout in shorts and shoulder pads at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.

The Tigers and the Razorbacks square off at 1:30 p.m. CST on Friday in Little Rock. The game will be televised to a national audience by CBS.

LSU’s Wednesday’s workout resembled that off a Thursday session during a normal week with the Tigers going through all phases of the game and concluding with the two-minute drill.

Thursday’s schedule will have the Tigers celebrating Thanksgiving together with a team meal at 10:45 before holding a walk-through at the LSU Indoor Practice Facility. The Tigers will depart for Little Rock at 2:30 p.m.

“We have had a good week of work,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “Our players understand what we’re trying to do on both sides of the ball and are ready to play.

“The short week and the travel can be a problem because it cuts in to your preparation time but I think we have gotten a great deal done this week. The routine becomes unusual around Thanksgiving every year for us because of the short week. This year, it’s our turn to travel, next year Arkansas will be faced with that.”

Miles said linebacker Darry Beckwith practiced on Wednesday and will be ready to play against Arkansas on Friday. Miles also said that safety Jessie Daniels will play against the Razorbacks. Beckwith missed last week’s game against Ole Miss with a knee injury.
